Sing Along Story Times
Additional Programs offered at Eversong include Doodle Drums, Sing Along Story Time and other fun activities.
Doodle Drums is an integrated, Mixed-Age music, art, and sensory class. We integrate these three wonderful activities into a fun, developmentally appropriate class for 1-4 year olds. This is the perfect class if you have a preschooler and an infant together. Many of the projects will work for both ages, but I will have infant options if they don't.
Sing Along Story time is a fun, interactive, community event that shows how Music Learning Supports All Learning®.
Music Together Mixed Age: 0-5
This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth to age five through all twelve song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience.
Rhythm Kids®: 4-9
Rhythm Kids® classes for pre-K and early elementary students tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with djembe drumming, music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun. In each weekly class, we drum, sing, move, and play to rhythms inspired by musical traditions around the world. As your child learns to think and create like a musician, they’ll also gain valuable skills they’ll take to the elementary school classroom (and beyond!): confidence, focus, leadership, cognitive flexibility, and more.
Rhythm Kids® 1 (RK1) is 4-5 year olds. Older 4 year olds might be permitted to join, especially if they have taken Music Together classes before. 4.5 years old is usually the earliest a child can join if they haven't taken a Music Together Family Class with us, but usually 5 years old is the best time if you are a new family. Music Together Family Classes are for kids up to 5 years old, so joining one for a semester is our usual suggestion.
Rhythm Kids® 2 (RK2) is 6-9 year olds
Mixed Level is both levels meeting together. I will help parents of level 1 kids understand what is developmentally appropriate expectations in a Mixed Level class. Mixed Level classes are more popular at Eversong Music as we often have classes of homeschool students with wider ranges of ages and involved parents.
Ukulele Private Lessons
Beginner Ukulele is for students who have never played a ukulele. Advanced Beginner are for students who know the chords C, F, Am, and G7 and know how to strum. Ukuleles are not provided with the class, but we have ukuleles you can rent until you choose to buy a ukulele yourself. Please ask your teacher about renting a ukulele.
We currently only offer private lessons in Nacogdoches. Private lessons will soon be available in Lufkin. Group lessons may be available as well. Please text Miss Brandi at (918) 695-8112 if you are interested in group lessons.
I prefer to start children around 7 years old, however, I have developed a great program for kids who have just turned 5 years old. A 5 or 6 year old needs to develop strength and dexterity in their fingers before being able to play typical ukulele songs using the basic chords. My curriculum helps build this strength through a variety of simple songs and movement activities. Unless your child is very interested in playing ukulele right now, we encourage 5 and 6 year olds to stick with our Rhythm Kid classes. 5 and 6 year olds will need to be a in a private lesson or a group lesson with only one or two other kids their age. Contact me to get started!
